What's New & Exciting!
LILSA Gives Away Free Plant Seedlings
Lake Isle & Lac Ste Anne Water Quality Management Society (LILSA) is a non-profit organization advocating the preservation of Lac Ste Anne Lake and Lake Isle. LILSA is partnered with the Sturgeon River Watershed Alliance and the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance. They are run by volunteers who are concerned about the quality of water in the two lakes. The Summer Village of Sunset Point proudly supports and contributes to LILSA, along with other groups in the surrounding area.
According to an article on Sunset Point’s website, Promotional Seedling Giveaway Limited Supplies, the organization will be holding a booth at the Alberta Beach Farmer’s Market on May 29, 2022. In an effort to spread awareness of their organization and mission, LILSA is giving away native flowering plant seedlings at their booth as a special promotion. “In addition, LILSA has provided the Village of Sunset Point with a number of tree and shrub seedlings.” (Sunset Point Admin, 2022). In Sunset Point’s article, seedlings are referred to as “plants that are essentially plugs for planting without a pot or container.” There is a wide variety of plant seedlings the organization will be giving away to Sunset Point Village residents, including five Bear Berry, five Wildrose, five Dwarf Birch, twenty Lodgepole Pine, and 10 Tamarack seedlings. These trees and shrubs will be given away free of charge; however, each household is limited to five plants.
To reserve seedlings, please email keir.packer@sunsetpoint.ca. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. The plants can be picked up at LILSA’s booth in the Alberta Beach Farmer’s Market on May 29, 2022. The organization’s booth will be open from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. For more information about this, visit The Village of Sunset Point’s news article here. Happy Planting!
